THE SPACE RENAISSANCE ACADEMY COMMITTEES

In order to implement the goals of the 3rd SRI World Congress Final Resolution, the Space Renaissance Academy formed 3 working groups: The Space Philosophy Laboratory, The Space Development Laboratory and the Space Renaissance Art Chapter. Who are we?

Space Renaissance International (SRI) is a non-profit organization with a global membership.

Our mission is getting humanity off-world, not just astronauts engaged in pioneering exploration, but humanity, en masse. We work for the establishment of an interplanetary society, with long-term aspirations for humanity to become an interstellar civilization.

Why do we exist?

Why? “… because among the stars we can be truly free”. Humanity can’t continue to live in an unsustainable manner, within a closed-system. Mankind needs to avoid the global risk of ‘keeping all of our eggs in the same basket’. Stephen Hawking once stated “I don’t think the human race will survive the next 1,000 years, unless we spread into space. There are too many accidents that can befall life on a single planet. But I’m an optimist. We will reach out to the stars.”

How are we going to achieve our mission?

The historical Renaissance era, with its focus on patronage of the arts and sciences, is our model for a New Renaissance, a Space Renaissance. We are developing ways to fund the disruptive and enabling technologies that will get us off-world.

We want to accelerate the change of paradigm from space exploration to space settlement … because the window of opportunity for our civilization could dramatically close, should global events like Covid-19, occur and devastate our capacities to develop such projects.” – Adriano V. Space Renaissance Initiative or Space Renaissance International?

Both! The Space Renaissance Initiative was founded in 2008, as a movement, calling all of the space humanists to join their efforts. The Space Renaissance International was incorporated in 2010, in Torino (Italy), as a not for profit association, for constituting a legal framework, to recruit membership worldwide, collecting funds, developing projects. Space Renaissance Initiative remained, after the foundation of the association, as a shared sentiment.
